Guy Pratt shows off his new rig at The Roundhouse

We went on down to Camden’s legendary Roundhouse venue last night (24th September 2018) to say hello to our friend and long-standing Ashdown artist, Guy Pratt who’s out on tour with his new band, 'Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets'.

If you’ve only just heard of them… A Saucerful Of Secrets features the respected Pink Floyd/David Gilmour session musician Guy Pratt on bass, as well as Lee Harris of the Blockheads, Spandau Ballet's Gary Kemp and music producer Dom Beken on keyboard.

We saw the band kick-off their tour with a show at Camden's Dingwalls on Sunday 20th May. As true early Pink Floyd fans, it was a show we had been looking forward to since we heard of the band’s establishment. Fast forward four months and we were even more excited to see the band play at the Roundhouse.

Ashdown MD, Mark Gooday, who was at the show said: “This gig was historic, almost 52 years to the day since Pink Floyd first played at the Roundhouse on 15th October 1966 (what a year). Tonight’s show paid a huge tribute to Syd Barrett and it was amazing to see.”

Guy is in love with his new rig, which consists of his trusted custom signature Ashdown ABM 900 heads and two brand new custom shop CL-310 – 3 x 10” Dual-Horn cabinets (available soon), with custom Grill Cloth as shown by Guy in the video below.

The power and projection of the 3 x 10” cabinets has been a huge surprise. These cabinets reproduce that classic ‘PA cab’ bass sound that Guy loves so much. What started off as a custom build for Guy’s gig with ‘The Saucers’ has been such a success at Ashdown HQ, that we’ve put them into production in a classic Ashdown Grill Cloth, with side handle and kick-back style wheels. Altogether a very compact and unique cabinet, which make the perfect match for the all-new light weight RM-500 head and OriginAL 300 head.

This classic sounding rig, together with Guy’s beautiful old 70’s Rickenbacker 4001 is the perfect combination for the tone Guy is looking for with ‘The Saucers’.

More on Guy, The Saucerful of Secrets and our new Custom Shop CL-310 Cabinets soon!
