We’re proud to welcome bassist and arranger Yuko Yanagino to the Ashdown family.

From live stages to recording studios across Japan, Yuko has built a career around rhythm, creativity and a deep understanding of what makes a song work. His approach brings together the energy of live performance and the attention to detail that studio recording demands.

From Bass Player to Arranger

Yuko began playing bass at 15 before moving to Tokyo after graduating from high school. By his early twenties, he was working professionally, performing live and recording with numerous artists across Japan.

Those recording sessions sparked a growing interest in arranging. Working with different artists and exploring how individual parts shape a finished track, Yuko expanded his role beyond the bass guitar.

With his roots in pop and rock, he has become particularly recognised for dynamic rhythm arrangements that give songs movement, variety and character.

Connecting the Studio and the Stage

At the heart of Yuko’s work is a belief in the connection between studio production and live performance. He champions the contribution that experienced live musicians can make to a recording, bringing their musical instincts and understanding of performance into the creative process.

That outlook led him to establish M.M.G. in 2017, where he continues to serve as its representative.

We’re delighted to have Yuko on board and look forward to being part of his next chapter.

Welcome to the family, Yuko.
