Ashdown Artists: Introducing Richie Buxton

Introducing Richie Buxton, better known as Kid Not, to the Ashdown Artist roster.

Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Richie is a bassist, songwriter, producer and creative force whose career has always been driven by a genuine love of music in all its forms.

He first made his mark as the bassist for Melbourne rock band Trial Kennedy before becoming the longtime musical partner and collaborator of Ecca Vandal. Together, Richie and Ecca have built their fiercely original sound from the ground up - writing, arranging and producing music that moves effortlessly between punk, hip-hop, rock and everything in between.

In 2025, Ecca Vandal joined Limp Bizkit on tour across Latin America. Following the passing of the band’s much-loved bassist Sam Rivers, Richie was given the enormous honour of stepping in on bass, pulling double duty each night with both Ecca Vandal and Limp Bizkit. It was a role he approached with real humility and respect, celebrating Sam’s life and the unmistakable legacy he left behind.

We first met Richie backstage at Hellfest earlier this year, where he spent some time getting to know our basses. It didn’t take long for the Capri 23” to catch his attention.

We quickly got the bass prepped and stage-ready, and just a few hours later Richie walked out with it for the final song of Limp Bizkit’s set.

Seeing him step onto one of Europe’s biggest stages with an instrument we had designed and built was an incredibly special moment for everyone at Ashdown. When Richie lifted the Capri 23” above his head for the crowd, it brought home exactly why we created it - to be played, enjoyed and taken onto stages around the world.

A seriously talented player, a true creative and, most importantly, someone who clearly puts heart into everything he does. We’re incredibly proud to welcome Richie to the Ashdown family.
