Rest in peace Michael….
We first had the pleasure of meeting Michael Rhodes at a Summer NAMM show in his then hometown of Nashville. Michael was immediately enamoured with our ABM range of amps and at the time had just taken delivery of a NEW Porsche Boxster and had a particularly odd problem in that he didn’t have a bass amp he could fit in his car… So we built him one called the Ashdown Boxster cab, it was a very compact 2 x 10” neo loaded light weight cabinet to pair with his ABM-500 head… The year was 1997 or might have been 1998, we had heard of Michaels playing but getting the chance to get to know him and his family over the years was a real honour.
We are extremely saddened by this sudden loss, recently there has been a lot of it going around, much we have put down to the fact none of us are getting any younger. It still does not help with the pain a loss of this stature can cause an individual. We still struggle with the loss of John Entwistle and that was over 20 years ago. The relationships you strike in this world creates a strong unquestionable bond that we will hold dear for as long as we walk this earth…
Michael went on to be one of our best brand ambassadors over the years spreading the word of his love for our amps and us personally as a company and individuals. We wouldn’t be the same company today if it wasn’t for him and we will be eternally grateful for his friendship.
Our thoughts at this time are with his wonderful family, Lindsay, Jason, Melody and his beloved grandchildren.
Michael was a lover of family, fashion, art and music. We were very fortunate to share many a moment discussing the finer things in life over the years and will miss him very much.
Rest easy Michael & thank you for the memories…
Love, Mark, Dan, Chris and all at Ashdown
