I recently received an incredible invitation from the lovely Hugh McDonald to see Bon Jovi at Wembley Stadium on their Forever Tour. Of course, I jumped at the chance.
What a gig it was. The show was fantastic, the hospitality was incredible, and we were very well looked after before, during and after the performance.
Hugh isn’t even using Ashdown at the moment, which makes the invitation all the more special and says every thing about the kind of gentleman he is. As Jon himself said during the show, Hugh is a true gentleman, and I couldn’t agree more.
It was an emotional night for many reasons. Jon spoke about Bon Jovi’s legendary Wembley shows in 1995, and that hit me just as hard as I think it hit him.
Thirty one years later, he is still doing this - and so am I.
Back in 1995, I took 150 members of staff from the company I was with at the time to see Bon Jovi at Wembley. I was lucky enough to spend time backstage, onstage and even underneath the stage with Alec John Such and Richie Sambora.
My daughter, who was just 10 years old at the time, was there with me.
This time, she was beside me once again, with more than a few tears. My 14 year old granddaughter was there too, making an already special night even more meaningful.
Three generations of our family, at Wembley, watching Bon Jovi together. Wow.
It was one of those nights that stays with you, the songs, Jon’s voice, the band and the memories that came flooding back.

Jon’s words about how long we have all been doing this really hit home. The years pass, the world changes, but the passion that started it all is still there.
