We recently came across this video telling the story of Trace Elliot, and the journey that eventually led to Ashdown Engineering, and it's well worth a watch.

It's important to say upfront: the narration is AI-generated, and not every detail will be 100% accurate. But what it captures really well is the spirit of the story, and the people behind it.

At its heart, the video follows Mark Gooday's journey. From his early days in manufacturing, to helping build Trace Elliot into one of the most recognisable bass amp brands in the world, to the moment it all came to an end.

And then...starting again.

One of the most power parts of the video is the contrast. From a factory of 200 workers in Maldon, to building amplifiers by hand around a dining room table. No big backing, no safety net, just experience, relationships, and determination.

That's where Ashdown begins.

The video also touches on something that still defined Ashdown today: doing things differently. Staying independent. Keeping things personal. Building gear that players can rely on.

It also brings in the next chapter, with Dan Gooday, showing how that knowledge and passion has carried through to the next generation.

It's not just a story about amps.

It's a story about resilience, about starting over, and about building something that lasts.

Even it's it not perfect in every detail, it's a story we're proud to be part of.
