Adam Barringer
Minus Pilots started as a solo project by bassist Adam Barringer, who later brought in a diverse range of guest musicians to expand the project’s sound. Drawing influences from modern classical, cinematic, post-rock, ambient and post-jazz, Minus Pilots create atmospheric soundscapes filled with introspective melodies, sparse textures, crumbling atmospheres, fractured drones, and soaring crescendos.

Adam plays six-string electric bass in stereo with a volume controller, an array of effects/looping pedals in addition to a variety of samples that are triggered live during performances, adding an extra layer of spontaneity and depth to the music.

Minus Pilots has released a solid catalogue of music on labels including Champion Version, Dronarivm, Futurerecordings, Multiplying Multiplying, Panic Arrest, and Play Neutral. The band has also played live across Europe and the U.S., sharing stages with artists like Tom Herbert of Polar Bear and solo bass sensation Steve Lawson.

For his setup, Adam currently relies on an Ashdown Studio 15, Studio 210, and a Studio Speaker Stool.
