Geezer Butler Super Band Announced - Deadland Ritual
Stop press! It has been announced just this week that legendary Black Sabbath bass player Geezer Butler will play a role in the new super group quartet, Deadland Ritual.
The band line-up features three other big-time players in rock including former Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum, Billy Idol’s guitarist Steve Stevens and Apocalyptica singer Franky Perez.
The announcement came shortly after band members dropped a few teasers of the new band’s music on their social media pages.
Geezer performed his last show with Black Sabbath in February of 2017 on the band’s aptly named ‘The End’ tour, which wrapped-up the band’s touring journey. It’s a tour that we at Ashdown remember well, as it was the time we welcomed Geezer into the Ashdown family.
Together with the help of Geezer Butler’s long-standing tech, Terry Welty, we designed and supplier Geezer with the ‘Rig of Doom’, built specifically for Sabbath’s final tour. Since then, we’ve gone on to create the Geezer Butler signature ‘Head of Doom’ which was put into production and shipped globally at the end of November 2017. “This amp is the closest I have found to emulate the old school sound I had in the 70s with its punch & clarity, it has the sound of DOOM I love.” – declared Geezer.
It has been confirmed that Deadland Ritual will perform on the main stage of France’s Hellfest on 22nd June 2019… Although we’re just speculating (or maybe just hopeful), there must be a Download Festival appearance between 14th and 16th June, right?
We’re looking forward to hearing more from Deadland Ritual soon.
