Can you imagine not having the bass in your face?

“Can you imagine not having the bass in your face?” - Robbie Shakespeare

Drummer Sly Dunbar and bass player Robbie Shakespeare make up Jamaica’s greatest rhythm section to ever exist. The duo have played on or produced over 50,000 songs and have won several Grammy Awards since 1984, the first year Reggae got its own Grammy category.

Last week the Reggae legends Sly and Robbie rolled into Oslo, Norway on the "Sly & Robbie meets Nils Petter Molvaer" tour.

Our Norwegian partners at Evenstadt Music went along to see the show at Rockefeller Music Hall and also had the opportunity to have a quick chat with bass master Robbie Shakespeare who was using his Ashdown ABM 600 head through an ABM 810 cabinet.

But what was it to be Mr Shakespeare?... “To bass or not to bass: that is the question”.
